Couponing and Saving Money!

I have a new idea for my blog. Since I'm not too good about updating, or writing anything on my blog in general I have decided to start sharing my couponing and sale shopping experiences. I am not a professional at this by any means but I would love to help inspire someone else to save a little money!

First I'll give you a little background on how I got started. I kept seeing all these blogs and website out there talking about couponing and sale shopping and it peeked my interest. I LOVE to shop but with Jillian starting in daycare and our childcare expenses doubling I had to find a way to cut back. Now I get a trill from hunting out the sales and saving a TON of money!

The first thing I did was go to I Heart Publix and read EVERYTHING on the site, it taught me sooooo much! For any couponing beginner it is a WONDERFUL site. I do most of my grocery shopping at Publix anyway so a whole site devoted to their sales was perfect. They also have a sister site I Heart Saving Money that helpful and talks about deals at other stores.

I've done all my shopping at publix so far for the following reasons:
1. Their buy one get one free deals - then I used manufactures coupons on top of it.
2. Publix takes all competitor coupons (other grocery stores, drug stores, target)
3. when you go into publix at the front of the store they have fliers with store coupons that are good for the whole month.

One thing that has helped me is I have been getting the coupons out of my Sunday paper, my mom's, my dad's, my boss's and a co-workers. Get your hands on as many coupon inserts as you can because when an item is buy on get one free they basically just charge you half price for each item so you can use a manufactures coupon on top of the store deal. You can also use a store coupon and a manufactures coupon at the same time.

I think my best deals today were they had some light blubs on sale buy one, get one and target had a coupon on their site for $1 off each pack. Well, with the sale they were already cheaper than $1 each so I MADE money off them. I printed the max amount from target (2) and I used 3 $1 off light blub coupons from the paper 2 weeks ago. I think I MADE $.30 per pack of blubs. They also had canned veggies on sale buy one get one and Delmonte had a coupon online for $1 off 4. I ended up getting the cans for $.64 each! I'm going to start trying to take my lunch to work more and they had their Healthy choice meals 5/$10, they also had $1 off 2 healthy choice meals in their store advantage shopper magazine.

Let me know if you have any questions, I think couponing is becoming my new hobby! The clerk did look at me a little funny when I handed her over 40 coupons!!!! LOL

CVS coupon/deal of the day

This week CVS has on special pepsi products buy 6 cases for $20 and get $10 in register rewards. So I did the pepsi deal and got my register rewards coupon.

Then I did a seperate transaction. They had a TON of Loreal lip stuff and eye stuff 75% off and in the paper 3 weeks ago they had coupons for $1 off eye and $1 off lip (I had 6 sets of inserts from that weekend). After she rang up the sells price, then took off all the coupons and then subtracted the $10 register rewards from the pepsi deal I got over $80 in Loreal stuff for $1.37!!!!!!
